Visit the Garden of Dreams, a peaceful oasis if you are looking for a quiet time in the middle of a bustling city. Spend some time in this wonderful garden that was restored after the original disintegrated over the years. This Rana garden was created in the early 20th century as a private garden of a Field Marshall who also owned the neighbouring Kaiser Library. Both were handed over to the government when he died.
Tour the beautifully designed garden, read a book, get a coffee or a meal and relax. The Garden of Dreams is a neo classical historical Garden in the midst of Kathmandu city, at the entrance to Thamel, within the Kaiser Mahal complex, the Rana palace. The size of the garden is 6,895sq.m.and includes pavilions, an amphitheater, central ponds, pergolas, urns and a combination of small gardens to larger ones.
The Garden was famous as the garden of Six Seasons which was created by Late Field Marshal Kaiser Shumsher Rana (1892-1964) in early 1920. After the completion of this Garden, it was considered one of the most sophisticated private gardens of that time. It was restored and reopened to the public in 2007.
An entrance fee is charged at the gate.
